Depression can come to anyone. There are many Christians who are walking with God and yet depressed. However depression can have a strong grip over a person who is back sliding, lack of prayer, unfaithfulness and guilt, feelings of irrecoverable damage of morality, hypocrisy and other failures that we encounter.
"Depression" the enemy of the mind, refers to a potentially disabling illness that affect many spirit filled Christians and is still undermined in the church today; understood by few and misunderstood by many. Many Christians are scared to see a counselor whether spiritual or secular for fear of being looked down upon. This is deception. Many missionaries and Christian shepherds see spiritual counselors, and many counselors even seek help from other counselors.
I have seen a counselor or spiritual leader several times, and I am never hesitant to recommend others that they see a counselor and a spiritual leader as well.
